The Production Journey
Nine stages sit between a raw hide and a finished piece. None of them are skipped. This is how every Saad Leather product is made.
Nine Stages. One Standard.
The sequence below is the same for a jacket as it is for a card holder. The tools change. The attention does not.
-
Material Selection
We start with the hide, not the sketch. Full-grain cowhide, buffalo, lambskin or calf is chosen for the specific product — thickness, temper and grain matched to how the piece will actually be used.
-
Leather Inspection
Each skin is examined over a light table for insect damage, brand marks, thin spots and dye inconsistency. Anything that will not sit cleanly in a pattern is set aside. We would rather wait than cut around a fault.
-
Pattern Development
Blocks are drafted and refined in-house. A jacket pattern may go through several muslin and leather samples before it is locked. Small goods are prototyped until the fold, pocket depth and edge allowance are right.
-
Precision Cutting
Panels are placed to respect the grain direction and to keep the tightest, cleanest parts of the hide on the most visible surfaces. Cutting is done by hand knife or clicker press depending on the run and the leather.
-
Stitching
Seams are sewn on industrial walking-foot machines with bonded thread chosen for the leather weight. Stress points are bar-tacked. Small goods are saddle-stitched by hand where the construction asks for it.
-
Edge Finishing
Raw edges are bevelled, dyed, burnished and sealed until they feel smooth in the hand. Painted edges are built in thin coats, not a single thick layer that will crack. This stage takes longer than most people expect.
-
Hardware Installation
Zips, buckles, rivets and snaps are set after the leather work is complete, so the metal sits true and the leather is not marked. We specify YKK, solid brass or antique-finish fittings depending on the piece.
-
Final Quality Inspection
Stitch tension, symmetry, lining, hardware seating and overall hand-feel are checked against the sample. If a piece fails, it is corrected or rejected. There is no quiet path onto the shop floor.
-
Packaging
Each piece is packed in a dust bag with care notes. Jackets are hung, not crushed. Small goods are wrapped so edges and hardware arrive unmarked. Then it leaves Lahore for you.
